The mainstream media is no longer the gatekeeper of ideas and information. Weblogs and other alternative media are democratizing information and news sources. GraphicLens is our contribution to that change.
The mainstream media has an important role in a free society but bias and corporate greed continue to blinder and hobble the industry. While we work to support the perspectives of the alternative media we also offer our services and approaches to the mainstream media. We think there is room for both and believe that the best future lies in a citizen-powered media supported by the publishing expertise and best traditions of the mainstream media.
The GraphicLens team was born out of a desire to form a business using the talents of our family members.
Paul, a former member of the United States Navy, was born on the east coast and now lives in the middle of the Great Plains with his wife and children. His background is in journalism, photography and informational graphics. He has worked in or visited much of the world, hence his affection for and interest in protecting the freedoms enjoyed by democratic peoples everywhere. He also blogs at Scribbling Monk.
Jeremy, a graphics and computer guy, has a degree in animation. His world revolves around his lovely wife and new baby boy. He likes board games, genealogy, and actually enjoys working with his in-laws believe it or not and they didn’t even have to beat him to say that. He blogs at Welcome To Jermany.
Deborah has a BA in, of all things, History. Due to 25+ years in the “Mommy Trenches” she has very little enthusiasm for solving other people's problems therefore will not be teaching history in school any time soon. She has a library/museum background and is adept in most hobbies that involve needles and thread, which she has much less time to indulge in due to the arrival of a small brown ball of fluff as well as the new electronic baby, “www.graphiclens.com.” She blogs at Mater Musings.
What we hope to offer is a resource for quality informational graphics to help bloggers and others in the alternative media tell their story. We believe that although there are myriad perspectives there is but one ultimate truth. If our perspective isn't shared by you, feel free to comment on our weblog or, better yet, suggest another way to look at the subject so we can experience another point of view.
Please contact us through our weblog or directly via e-mail if you have an idea for a graphic to help tell a story you're interested in. Alternative perspectives are appreciated. Foul language and a lack of civility will not be tolerated.
