Ipod Video Camcorder
The next incarnation of the Ipod. When Apple introduced video capability into it's Ipod, it met with a lot of praise (except from it's competitors of course, I imagine there was a lot of forehead slapping and swearing). You can now download TV shows, and movies are the next logical step. That's just content though, what is the next shift for the technology itself?
Camcorder capabilities.
I would add to that digital camera capability as well. Why couldn't or shouldn't this work? With the largest Ipod maxing out at 60 gig, that's still plenty of space for reasonably good quality video. There are films winning awards that are recorded with cell phones. I just read of a music video being filmed with a cell phone. Cell phones do not hold 60 gig. Even a low quality film/photo option would be loads of fun. With the Ipod's ease of connectivity, both to computers and the internet, independant film and video would soar. The majority of people who seem to be pushing the real creativity envelope in any industry is the the independant. Be it filmmaker, video-game creator, or now...
Ipodirector.
Imagine subscribing to a podcast of your favorite independant filmmaker. John from Michigan, with his claymation weekly 1 minute short. Kim from Korea, with his mini-documentary on the Korean fusion of hip-hop and rock. Suzie in Germany and her video diary of why most guys are jerks, and there's that 5 minute movie made only with G.I.Joes and Barbies you've seen a hundred times and show to everyone you ever meet. Even celebrities giving you a quick look behind the scenes of the latest blockbuster. Quick/simple edit your video while you're riding the bus or on a flight. Even better, film it! Follow your local government people around and keep them in check. Whatever you want! Tell your story.
It might thicken the Ipod up a little bit, but I'd say that's a fair trade on our end. I say we see this within the next year.
