Joel Stein and the MSM

I always find it fascinating, the lefts absolute fixation on their right to free speech. The rest of us are supposed to sit calmly by as they abuse those who don't think the way they do. From the morons who stood in front of Walter Reed hospital, to the idiots who disrupted Gonzales' speech to the Cindy Sheehan brigade, they are all about protecting free speech, theirs. Anyone else who questions them and their tactics is exposed to vitriolic hate speech that if directed at a minority in this country would land these hate mongers in jail.

So Joel Stein doesn't support the military. That's O.K. they don't support you either. Most of them would never look at the LA Times much less buy it.

Hey Joel, ask the "Dixie Chicks" what happens when a large part of your audience disappears. I hope you have another career in the wings, because when the paper folds due to lack of readership you won't be able afford to live in LA. Just don't move out to fly over country. We don't tolerate traitors here.

Moore = Osama

Chris Matthews on Hardball compared Michael Moore to Osama bin Laden, and the left is all aquiver. Instapundit has a link to the story on Crooks and Liars with the assorted left wing hysteria. Peter Daou states " Bin Laden sounds like Rush Limbaugh".... as if this never happens to conservatives. They are never compared to homicidal maniacs, like say Hitler or Stalin. No decent democrat in the Senate would ever stoop to comparing the President to someone like that I'm sure. Sen. Slick Willy's Spouse would never so anything so appalling, right? Guess Mr. Daou needs to revisit some of the latest speeches of Senators. Clinton, Biden, Kennedy, Reid, et al

Jealous Pammy

Surely Pamela Anderson has more important things to do than make a fool of herself over a statue of Col. Sanders in the Kentucky state house. If she is so interested in righting wrongs and doing good, I have a few suggestions that might make more of an positive impact.
Volunteer at a homeless shelter
" " at a soup kitchen
" " at a urban city school
" " to read to the blind
" " at an animal shelter
" " any where people are suffering
But by all means stop pretending you're doing something worth while with your life. This is simply another moonbat idea to get publicity since her new series is not doing well. Actors are becoming more transparent every day.

newspaper extinction

In an article by the Boston Phoenix about the Boston Globe (thanks to Insta Pundit) the author decries the changes made by the publishers of the Globe, The New York Times organization. The author of this piece has many valid points concerning how the paper is being mismanaged but the bigger story is how woefully out of touch those running the Times organization really are. This is endemic across the nation and the world and is evidenced by how people get their news, which is mostly from other sources than the MSM. Do I believe what the Times reports? Absolutely not. They are biased in the extreme and only those who have NO grasp of reality can see it. Partisan politics aside, I want the truth when I read a newspaper. What really happened? What I don't need is for them to interpret an event for me. If I want more information I'll look for it. From my local paper all I want is the facts, I can make my own decisions about what happened. I am an adult, you see.
If the news business (print and video) continue down this road they will be like the dinosaur who ate itself. I think they have reached the shoulder area.

Kennedy and friend

It seems that Senator Ted Kennedy is being a tad disingenuous at the Alto hearings. He would like to scuttle the nomination because the Judge joined an organization from his college that had a sexist and or racist article published in it. Horrors!

Let's take a look at just one example of the people Kennedy has befriended over the last 10 or more years. A short trip to CNN produces an article from last March, just 10 short months ago ( in comparison to Alito's 30 year question). In the article it is reported that Kennedy in reaction to a murder committed by members of the Irish Republican army cancelled his planned appointment with Gerry Adams, a high ranking member of Sinn Fein the political wing of the IRA. This is the same Gerry Adams that Kennedy had been spending St. Patrick's day with since 1998. I am less concerned about the sophomoric writings of a college organization's magazine, than I am at ties between a Senator and a terrorist organization like the IRA.

Who does the Senator think he is? This is the self same man who left a young woman to drown. That he feels he has the moral superiority to pass judgment on anyone else is obscene. Of all the committees to be a member of, this is the WRONG one for the " lion of the Senate" ( that really should read the "rat terrier of the Senate"). Maybe someone should crate train him, or better yet work on his obedience titles and make him a Good Canine Citizen.

Hillary and Armor

Senator Hillary Clinton wants our troops in Iraq to have body armor. So do I, I also want her to stop deriding the President and the military every time she opens her mouth. Because of her and people like her terrorists and insurgents have been emboldened. They are sure that we are not sufficiently committed to the long haul. Her brand of politics consists of tearing down not building up. If her husband (whom I despised) was still President I would keep my mouth shut about how he is handling the war. Not because I supported him but because I wouldn't want what I said to affect those fighting against us, giving them hope of victory, if they just hold out long enough.
The Senator can be called many things but Patriot is not one of them.

Sunday

It's Sunday again and that engenders waking up early and heading off to the church of my choice. Thus I find myself pondering the blessings that have been made available to me this fine winters morning.
I am grateful to God for the breath of life and the ability I had today to get up out of bed at 0 dark thirty to take out the puppy.
I'm grateful for those who fight to keep us free, so that we have the option of getting up and shlepping off to church or spending the morning (or day- I know you people are out there) in bed.
I'm grateful for famiies and the ties that bind. Sometimes we may find those ties restrictive but most of the time they are comforting.
I'm grateful for knowledge. Occasionally, O.K. more than occasionally people can use knowledge for nefarious purposes but more good has been done than bad I think.
I'm grateful for spell check. I wish dry erase and blackboards came equipt with it. ( I can not spell- at least I can not spell well)
I'm grateful for health both physical and mental. Although I am getting older and things that never before ached now ache, I am better off than others that I know. This is no testament to my piety. I must not need to learn what illness can teach at this time in my life, that will probably happen later.
I'm grateful for the opportunities that I have had to learn life lessons. You know the ones that you can't learn in school. At the time the learning was in process I wouldn't have been thankful but once the trial is over I can see that I did grow and learn something (if only not to do such a stupid thing again.)

There are so many more things to be thankful for. If you are feeling depressed or discontented or even if you're not, it might be a good exercise to "Count your Blessings," there are always more than you think.

media bias

Over at Graphiclens we did a graphic to illustrate where the major media outlets are located in the U.S. It is interesting that most of them are located in urban areas which tend to be more liberal than the vast majority of the country. Therefore it is not surprising that many of these media outlets are overwhelmingly to the left of center. This just doesn't help the rest of us who are just asking for the "facts ma'am, just the facts." (Joe Friday -Dragnet)

Education

If someone would pay me to go to school I would probably be the happiest person on the planet. I think that is because, I am if nothing else very curious. Therefore when I hear or see something in the MSM or on a blog that has gaping holes in it I am driven to find out what the "real" story is. That is what happened in the last two or three days since reading several stories concerning Iraqi funding of al Qaida terrorist, camps, as well as other terrorist organizations. Because I am interested in the "truth" aka what really happened I would love to have someone answer a few pertinent questions for me.

Who decided to ignore the old saying "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" ? After all nothing brings people together than despising someone else. Why wouldn't Saddam work with Osama against their common enemies.

Why didn't members of the Senate Intelligence Committee complain about a lack of evidence of WMD's and terrorist relationships in Iraqi before the invasion? Why did they wait so long to voice their opinions? Did it take them that long to decide which side of the issue was most politically advantageous?

Were the previous U.S. Presidents who stated the danger of terror merchants like Saddam Hussein (Clinton, Reagan, Carter) in the twilight zone, high from peanut fumes or in the afterglow or did they have faulty data as well?

How do you tell if data is "true" or not?

Who do you trust? It has been apparent for years that the Iraqis will say whatever necessary to get their way or get them out of trouble. Do you trust the detainees, the government, or the "freedom fighters?"(and I use that term sarcastically)

There seems to be a lot more information coming out about not just WMD's but ties between the former government of Iraq and terrorist organizations all over the world. Much of this information seems to be things that the intelligence community should have been paying much closer attention to. The Weekly Standard has several interesting articles about the data mining going on from Iraqi documents recovered during the war. This interesting information dribbling out, no thanks to career bureaucrats who are behaving much like Gollum in the Lord of the Rings. One can almost see them wringing their hands and muttering "my precious."
My last question is who are these bureaucrats working for? Maybe they should leave their political ideology at home when they go to work-they could instead work for the good of the country and not to advance their own political agendas.
