May Day rant

I don't usually blog on Sunday. This is the day I reserve for Church, Family and Friends. However as I was trolling the blogosphere I came across this unusual post from Yankee sailor . This blogger suggested that we put the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner on our pages to remind people exactly what the song represents.

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Tomorrow will be May Day. Instead of going shopping on Friday as is my usual preference, I will go tomorrow. I urge anyone else who values freedom and believes in the United States of America to do the same.

I have several questions for the radical illegals
1.If Mexico is so wonderful, why did you leave?
2.How about going back? There are brand new spanking drug laws there.
3.Could you take the druggies and wasters with you? Hollywood would be depopulated, what a wonderful thought. I'm really beginning to get jazzed here.
It will never happen though, because some people can only run their mouths, they don't have the guts to act. Does this issue make me crazy? Yes, especially because like most Americans my people came here legally. My plea is to those in the government with authority to act close those borders. If you're out of ideas maybe Agents J and K could give you some pointers.

Guilty until proven innocent

I know I should stay away from opinion pieces in the MSM, but because it was Fox I thought I'd be safe. I do not begrudge anyone the right to their opinion, after all that is what freedom and liberty are all about. What I really hate to see, however, is sloppy thinking. This usually occurs when one can not separate either fact from fiction or when they allow the issue to become personal. Such is the case in the Duke Rape case playing out in a media outlet near you.

Susan Estrich wrote a piece on Fox News.com that serves as a model on why one does not allow a story to become personal. I understand from the article why she would feel the way she does but what happened to her has very little baring on what happened in the Duke case.

Rape is an ugly crime. Men and women who commit rape are the worst kind of criminals, and the suffering they inflict can effect the rest of their victims lives and the lives of their families. This is the main reason why a charge of rape should be taken seriously. In order to take the charge seriously however one must be willing to look at ALL aspects of the case. Just because a women says she has been raped does not mean she is telling the truth. People have lied about rape before and will likely continue to do so in the future, on both sides of the issue.

One of the seriously upsetting things about this case is the inconsistencies in the victims story. I realize that when someone has experienced trauma they do not necessarily act in a rational manner. Still, putting that aside, the victims behavior is hard to explain. This brings up another problem. The victim say some, should not have to explain her behavior, those accused should have to explain their behavior. When did we go from innocent until proven guilty to guilty because I said so, and I (or my friend, sister, mother, cousin) have been raped so I know all about it? You know all about your own case, not this one.

Another interesting facet of this case is that those accused have their background made public, prejudicing their character, but the victims reputation should be protected at all costs. If the victim has a history of questionable behavior shouldn't that too be brought out into the open where all may see and make judgments about the veracity of her account of the incident. After all what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander, or at least that is what I've been told.

Crimes should be tried in a court of law as set forth by the Constitution, not in the arena of public opinion. The prosecutor of this case needs to be replaced and a gag order needs to be issue for ALL parties concerned. Maybe then we can get back to something approaching truth and justice, we might even be able to make it the American way.

The Daily Crude

Once again I have been assaulted on the internet. I don't go to places on the internet that I know are going to offend me. I stay away from the foul, the disgusting, the obscene and the truly unreal. However today I was ambushed on the pages of one of my usual haunts, Michele Malkin.

Usually Malkin could be rated PG but today's installment was definitely rated NC17. I don't blame Malkin for this, after all if people were saying such things about me I would want as many people to know about as possible. That said, who do these idiots think they are? Free speech is one thing, hate speech is something else entirely. These morons make reference to her race and physical characteristics. If I had said something like that about McKinney I would expect a visit from the ACLU and my local prosecutor.

One wonders just what passes for education these days. Supposedly these people are college educated, open minded, tolerant individuals who preach that we should all get along. What is the problem with linking to web pages that are in the public domain and exposing those who should be willing to stand up for their decisions and beliefs. Are they ashamed of their ideology and actions? Did any of them actually go to English class and learn how to speak in anything other than four letter words? How proud their parents and teachers must be to know that these geniuses can't even put together a whole sentence, without resorting to words so foul that most people would not even think them, much less say them out loud. There is no reasonable debate with these adolescents, and obviously from the tenor of some of the comments on the Daily Kos some of these individuals have not matured passed the name calling phase of pre-pubescence.

I thought college weeded out these less than stellar thinkers. Obviously not. What a *^&$$* shame. See, I can keep it clean.

Help Mommy

There is a new "Help Mommy" book out on Amazon. When I read some of the comments in the discussion area I just had to respond here.

I dare anyone to do a google search on any of leaders of the Republican party today. What you will find is that they are called everything from Hitler to Dalmer. It is a simple fact that most liberals today couldn't find the facts with both hands and a flashlight. They refuse to talk about what is, and insist on bringing emotion and agnst into every issue.

Rep. McKinney is a perfect example of this. She considers herself, like most liberals above the law ( or any other societal rule). When caught breaking the law she resorts to violence, then to specious charges of race and gender discrimination. She is then encouraged by members of the Black Caucus and her own party to issue an apology, which she doesn't quite do on the floor of the House of Representatives. Who is her concern in all of this? The children and young people who might adopt her attitude and behavior. Heck no, her concern is Numero Uno. She is selfish, egotistical and obnoxious. Typically liberal attributes.

How can I say this about people like the Hollywood left? Easy. Very few of them ever do anything that isn't featured on Access Hollywood or on the front of People magazine. They don't care about the actual people involved, just how much face time they can get. As for Limbaugh and O'Reilly they tend to laugh at the names they are called, they've had a lot more practice at being a duck

Random Thoughts

Sometimes there are just too many fun things to focus on. While trolling my favorite blogs and msm sites today I came across some really spiffy items.
little green footballs had an interesting post about Hamas and their claim about wanting to stop the violence in Gaza. I am particularly heartened by the men in white with their faces covered. That inspires a great deal of confidence. About the same amount of confidence I derive from members of the KKK or bank robbers in ski masks.

From the Jawa report came this life affirming post to slublog. It's hard to be totally depressed and hopeless when gazing at the picture of a newborn baby. I had the most surreal experience in my life yesterday. I was able to accompany my 8+month pregnant daughter to her OB appointment. There is just something not quite right about seeing the child of your child for the first time. I had to sit down. It's not like I didn't know she was preggers, obviously, it just wasn't really real if you know what I mean.

As I have blogged about before illegal immigration is the scourge of our generation. The protests are all over the msm. The one question I would like to ask leaders of this country who favor open borders is: If a person enters this country illegally, flaunting our laws and statutes, what makes you think they will obey the other laws which govern our country? Obviously they are not afraid of our law enforcement officers as they marched right out in the open on the Capital Mall yesterday. Maybe it would have made sense to start checking ID's and loading illegals on buses headed for the border. We at least would have been humane about the expulsion, which is different than the way in which many illegals make it into this country ( stuffed in the back of trucks, packed in boxes ect.).

Then there is the story the msm has avoided like the plague. get whitey was the cry when a group of black hoodlums chased a white college student into traffic, causing injuries that would later kill him. The news accounts of the reported rape of a black stripper by Duke lacrosse players however has been all over the msm: cnn, espn, and the local paper the Winston Salem Journal just to name a few, have entered into the fray. Of course there are only a few places where you'll hear the rest of the story, for instance at talk left. What you will hear are that members of the team were in trouble, with the law, in the past, for being drunk and disorderly. And this is different than any other sports team how, exactly.

Is the rush to judgment because of the crime "rape" the color of the victim and supposed perps. or just the standard operation procedures followed in many msm outlets today. The fact that NO DNA was found on the victim, pointing to any of the players at the party, just screams "fishy" but the prosecutor, seeing his chance to ride to political nirvana, just keeps on trucking. I hope that no one was raped because many lives including those of the victims and accused could be ruined. One does wonder just what a drunken or high stripper was thinking when she agreed to enter the house in the first place. This is not somewhere I would go, drunk or sober. There is such a thing as common sense, sorry, I forgot. These days stupidity trumps common sense in a court of law as well as among the general populace. What a world.

Her Royal Highness Pain in the .....

Rep. Cynthia McKinney seems to think she is Queen of America. Last week while avoiding a trip through the metal detectors, sans identifiable Congressional Pin, she ignored repeated attempts by a Capital policeman to stop. He finally had to put his hand on her arm or shoulder to get her to stop.CNN

If I had been Ms. McKinney I would have been mortified. Not because the man didn't recognize me but because my mouth was running so loud and long that I didn't hear him address me. Of course if I'd been in her shoes I would have gone through the metal detector, because if the people I serve have to do it so do I. I am no better or worse than those who elected me.

Someone has been feeding this woman's ego and I demand they stop it right now. If her head gets any bigger, she'll never get it through the Capital door. They'll have to install a retractable dome and airlift her into meetings. She won't be able to take any more junkets with friends like Isaac Hayes because there won't be a plane big enough for her head.

The ironic part of this whole debacle is that all McKinney had to do is explain who she was, that she was late or having a bad hair day ( very believable) and thanked the policeman for doing such a good job protecting and serving those who work and visit the capital. The MSM would have had a field day, "Dem. Congresswoman shows appreciation for police service (film at 11). The New York Times would have had a newsgasm or several.

But she didn't. She stayed true to her Democratic underpinnings and played the race card, made a scene, concentrated only on herself, and looked like the loon she is. Fox Friends asks the salient question, and they get the situation normal response. It's comforting to know that when all around us is changing, democrats stay the same. Makes it so much easier to plan.
