Tornados

(don't forget to go to the link at the end-it might just save your life)

Tornados,
tornados
and
tornados.

Here in Fly-Over country we have a great deal of experience with Twisters. They have been and are a major weather events not just spring but throughout the year. Tornados can happen anywhere, at anytime and during any season. Some of us who live with the knowledge that these deadly funnels of destruction can drop from the sky at a moments notice take them very seriously. Others do not.

There are several ways to deal with the weather here in the Tornado Belt. One is to ignore it. These are the, "It can't happen to me people." You find them everywhere today. No one is going to steal their car, break into their homes, kidnap their child, they are never involved in accidents or will they be victims or crime or identity theft. They never prepare because they have so many other more important things to do, like play golf or tennis, go to the gym or run their kids to soccer, gymnastics, or a church youth activity. They never or hardly ever look at the sky much the weather nor do they listen to the radio news. They have more important things to think about.

Another way of course is to be prepared. In the spring my home page is NOAA (the specific page for my city). I have a weather radio, which is tested every week on Wednesday and on the first Monday of the month.  I watch the sky.  I notice the kinds and amounts of clouds in the sky and their color. We live in a house with a basement and while I know that in some parts of the country a house can't have a basement, there are storm shelters available for purchase. We also have tornado supplies and have them in the places they will be most helpful. Most important of all we are educated and flexible. If the weather is likely to develop into dangerous weather we STAY HOME.  Sometimes this causes problems but most often it does not.

Here are facts everyone should be aware of.  I for one live by the adage,  "If ye are prepared, ye shall not fear."
